Masterpiece

As life goes by I realize how short a year is, how short a day is and how fast a moment goes by. Exciting events come and go leaving sweet fond memories of that time in your life. How can we keep the time from going by so fast? We can’t, its like trying to scoop up our shadow and put it in a bottle.

What is time exactly?

Time is something gifted to us by God. He created us for a purpose. We are to use time as a gift and not take it for granted. Make somebody smile today, make somebody laugh, tell somebody they matter more then they every know. And for those who are reading this and wondering why they are alive….. You are here because you, yes I’m talking to you dear! You matter. You couldn’t have been conceived if you were not suppose to be here. God created everyone after His own image. Yes, we have flaws and doubts but remember this, no matter how big or small, old or young, we were made for a purpose, and that is to glorify God and honour Him in all we say, do or think. Like the ambassadors who represent their government to a foreign country, we as Christians represent our King to this world. That’s it. That’s my purpose. I’m here to represent my God and King to this fallen, broken world. By Gods grace and strength I shall share my testimony and shout to all the earth that there is one hope and there is salvation from the eternal, fiery torment called hell.

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.” Acts 16:31a

I hope you will join me on this journey through life, and set your sights along mine anticipating that end journey, that great day when we will meet the One who died for us, the one who sacrificed His life for us, the One who rose again on the third day, and the One who loved us unconditionally. What a glorious day that will be!

If anything just remember this, don’t let others tell you, you are nothing. Because you are something. You are something called masterpiece.

God’s masterpiece.

Light in Darkness

The pressure of today's culture is no different then it was back then, we as Christians are constantly being pressured not say a word about God and share our testimonies in public for the fear of embarrassment, it's only through God we can overcome the awkwardness and be salt and light in this world.

Matthew 5:13-16-

"Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

Stand Firm

Stay strong in the Faith, stand firm in the Word and do not at all cost give into the Enemy! As we march through this life we should remember always the greatness of the Lord.

Ephesians 6:10-18---

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints."

Change

"To everything there is a season under heaven, a time for every purpose under the heaven."

                                                                                                                         Ecclesiastes 3:1

There are four seasons in a year here in America- Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. Each season is different. Spring is the time of new growth. Summer is the time for prospering and strengthening. Fall is the time of change. Winter is a time to reflect good times and memories.

The most toughest season in our lives is change. Change can hurt. Change can be sad, yes very sad. But then change can also be a good thing. I believe that God allows us to experience change to show us how fleeting our lives are.  What are we doing with our lives right now?

This (my) generation is so full of social media and selfishness, and everywhere I turn somebody is always on some sort of electronic device. I'm not saying that it is wrong to have Facebook, Gmail, Instagram, Pinterest (boy that can be addicting!), etc. But the only question I have is, can I (or they) be doing something more useful in this life for Christ? You know, its not at all easy trying to get my priorities right and trying to have a real relationship with God because I end up getting sidetracked into checking messages and that endless stream of great things on Pinterest instead of increasing my knowledge of the God's word. Its a constant battle! As posted in my previous blog post, I am posting this verse again in entirety,

"For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law." Galatians 5:17-18

Put away fleshly things and focus on what is important, ask God to help you through this. By His strength you will prevail .

Christ in the Center

As time goes on I feel the need of more of Christ in my life. To be completely honest with you I feel like I am a hypocrite sometimes, saying one thing and doing the opposite. I always tell myself that I am going to wake up before the sun rises (never happened yet) and have a great prayer life, a consistent bible reading schedule and the list could go on... But yet I feel like something is keeping me from doing it. Like it is said in Galatians 5:17,

"For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would."

I need to conquer this, but how do I conquer something when my whole life is inconsistent and full of uncertainties? I know God has us where He wants us to be right now, but how can I make my life worth living for Him?

As a pastor once said in one of his sermons (paraphrase), "Without Christ in the center of our lives we are nothing. But with Christ in the center we have already had laid all our troubles and trials down and are depending on Him for our salvation, our only hope in this world. "

I really need to ask God to give me the patience and strength to start doing what I should be doing.

Something to try....

1. Set your alarm at a reasonable time (reasonable time means that you don't wake up at like three in the morning)
2. Grab a cup of coffee (or tea)
3. Open up to Genesis 1:1 and work at it everyday. Or go through the Morning and Evening by Charles H. Spurgeon (which I'm working through at the moment).

Maybe try downloading an actual reading schedule where you could get a feel what its like to perhaps read through the whole bible in one-two years.  Here is a good link to find downloadable and printable reading schedules: http://www.mcheyne.info/calendar.pdf

If you have anything you want to add to this please let me know in the comments below!

a lamp to my path............

"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God, in him will I trust."
                                                                                                                          Psalm 91:1-2

It is always a comfort to a believer that they have somewhere to go in a time of distress or difficulty.

Life without Christ is very much like walking down a dark path not knowing where to place your steps, always scared that the next step would be your last.

But there is hope to all that believe that Christ died and was risen again on the third day! As believers we have no fear walking down that dark path only if we follow the light trusting it to take us safely through.....

Remember in times of trouble, continue to trust God even though you cannot see into the future, that is after all what faith is about. You may have lost things that you held very dear to your heart like a loved one, but please understand this is God's providence. As hard as providence can be we need to remember that God's will be done. He will make everything right in the end, so be patient dear Christian!

Forgiveness

"Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye." Colossians 3:13

As Christians we are called to forgive always, even though it may be the toughest thing to do. Yes that someone hurt you deeply but you dear christian is still called to forgive no matter how bad it can be! I know what it feels like to be hurt and deeply broken. I know how it feels to lose a good friend to lies and misconception. But with God's grace and power and I was able to overcome and forgive that person even though that person doesn't even know it, and so could you!

" Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, FORGIVING ONE ANOTHER EVEN AS GOD FOR CHRIST'S SAKE HAS FORGIVEN YOU." Ephesians 4:31-32

And remember:

"Let not the sun go down upon your wrath."

Ephesians 4:26b

...forgive and forget but don't forget why you're here...
